It is furnished with a large crate full of clean, soft blankets, a kitty condo, scratching post, litter box, plenty of food and fresh water and of course, lots of kitty toys. <image:caption>Adopting a cat is a long-term commitment. It is important to understand that the average life span of an indoor cat is 13 plus years. Adoption is a commitment that requires you to provide a lifetime home for the cat! It is a responsibility to be thought through carefully and taken seriously. But that commitment is more than worth the rewards and unconditional love that you will receive in return. If you are interested in adoption, please give me a call or send me an email. Follow us on Facebook at RESQCATS or Jeffyne Telson where you can see gorgeous photos of the cats that are available for adoption.</image:caption>

<image:title>Kittens - Adopt a Kitten</image:title>
<image:caption>April is the beginning of kitten season and we usually have a lot of kittens through the summer and fall months here at RESQCATS. Adopting a kitten is a lifetime commitment. Most people want kittens, but it is important for you to understand that kittens grow into adults cats and that the average life span of an indoor cat is 13 plus years. But this commitment is more than worth the joy, laughter and unconditional love you receive in return. Interested in adopting?</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Our Founder</image:title>
<image:caption>Jeffyne Telson is the founder and president of RESQCATS. In 1997, following a graphic design career, she wanted to make a difference in the world. Her love of felines led her to establishing RESQCATS, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care and adoption of stray and abandoned cats and kittens. Jeffyne's philosophy is that every life is precious and worth saving. She provides any and all medical care to sick and injured cats in order to give them the quality of life they so deserve, and then finds qualified homes for those that are adoptable. RESQCATS has helped thousands of cats and kittens over the years through hard work, dedication and meeting the many challenges of rescue. Several cats have been considered un-adoptable so Jeffyne has created a sanctuary where they can live out their lives as resident cats. She has given a lifetime home to many that would otherwise be euthanized: those that have leukemia or are FIV positive, semi-feral, have chronic illness, conditions such as hydrocephalus, missing limbs or older cats that would not be adopted. Jeffyne says, "If they are too sick, too feral, too shy, too old...or just too anything, they stay!" RESQCATS is an all-volunteer organization so 100% of your donations go towards cats and kittens in her care. To learn more about the history of RESQCATS and Jeffyne’s legacy, please check out and read Jeffyne’s books.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Founded in 1997</image:title>
<image:caption>RESQCATS is a non-profit cat sanctuary located in Santa Barbara, California, dedicated to the rescue, care and adoption of abandoned cats and kittens. We operate with a group of dedicated volunteers who work hard at assessing each cat or kitten and then finding just the right home for it. We follow a medical protocol established and monitored by local veterinarians that includes: vet exam, Leukemia/FIV virus test, first upper respiratory vaccination, fecal exam, worming medication, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip. We also provide any and all medical care that may be required due to illness, injury or any other issues. RESQCATS works hard to make sure that we place the right cats or kittens with the right people! I want to make sure that each adopter is aware of the cats' disposition and history and knows what to expect when you take your feline home. Many of our cats and kittens arrive frightened and in need of socialization and love. That's one of the many areas that volunteers play a significant role. It is important to personally know each cat in order to find the "purrfect" home. Some kitties will do fine in homes with young children while others may not. Sometimes it is better for a shy or traumatized cat to be adopted out with a more outgoing sibling or playmate. And occasionally, a cat prefers to be the only cat in the house!</image:caption>

<image:title>Facilities - 1,500 sq. ft. Sanctuary</image:title>
<image:caption>The sanctuary is a haven for stray and abandoned cats and kittens that come here to follow a medical protocol and find a forever home. The sanctuary has been expanded over the years as more cats and kittens find a temporary home at RESQCATS. The facilities consists of a 1500 square feet building divided into communal areas, an isolation ward and roomy indoor enclosures connected to large outdoor "playgrounds" for resident cats who prefer to live alone. This is the temporary home of cats and kittens while they go through an established medical protocol and await adoption. The facility is also a sanctuary for resident cats and kittens that are not adoptable due to health, attitude, age or other reasons.</image:caption>

<image:title>Facilities - Outdoor Areas</image:title>
<image:caption>The residents enjoy large outdoor areas that gives them opportunity to enjoy the fresh air of the "outdoors" while still being completely protected from the outdoor dangers...traffic, predators, cat fights, disease, etc. They enjoy over 750 feet of overhead "cat trails" that allows them to walk from one outdoor enclosure to another. Large outdoor enclosures give them a taste of the outside with trees to climb and places to perch to watch nature, but in a safe environment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Facilities - Communal Room & Enclosures</image:title>
<image:caption>The large communal room is where some of the resident cats live together in harmony. Cats and kittens that are available for adoption have their own individual enclosure. Each enclosure is 4' wide by 8' long and 7' from floor to ceiling. Each is furnished with a large crate with soft blankets, a cat tree, scratching post, litter box, plenty of food and fresh water and, of course, lots of kitty toys. In addition, a ramp leads to a high shelf with a window and provides a panoramic view of the outside. Kittens await adoption and are always curious to see what happens out there...</image:caption>
